Ministry Activities
Women of St. Andrew's
We meet monthly, typically on the second Monday of the month, at 10am, to discuss ways we can support the work of the church and congregation.
4 Paws Pet Pantry
We distribute dog and cat food once each month, on the third Wednesday of the month, from 3:30pm to 5:30 pm. Distribution takes place at the 5th Street entrance to the parish hall. Volunteers to help bag the food are always welcome!
If you can help stock our Pet Pantry with dog and cat food, or provide gallon-size baggies, we would be grateful! You may drop off food (and baggies) at the church office, but please be sure to let us know you are coming so someone will be here to receive it. You can also order food directly from Chewy.com, at www.chewy.com, or make a monetary donation with an indication that it is for Pet Pantry.
Andy's Place
On the last Saturday of each month, Andy's Place offers a warm breakfast in the Parish Hall. We serve from 7:30-10:00am, and to-go plates are available.
Andy's Place can always use financial support to help with food costs, and we also try to maintain a supply of travel-size toiletry items to distribute. Donations of toothbrushes & toothpaste, deodorant, razors & shaving cream, shampoo & conditioner, hand soap & sanitizer, sunscreen, and facial tissue. Individual rolls of toilet paper as well as socks for men & women are also welcome. Items can be dropped off at the church office or in the basket in the Narthex on Sunday mornings.
Needle Arts
Our Needle Arts group meets the third Tuesday of each month at 10am. We make receiving blankets and knitted caps for newborns, which are taken to the local hospitals each month. We also make prayer shawls and prayer blankets when requested, and we have non-sewing projects as well. We would love to have you join us! If you can't join in but want to help support Needle Arts, please consider making a donation to our ministry.
Daughters of the King
The Julian of Norwich Chapter of the Daughters of the King (DOK) is open to women of the church. The major purpose of DOK is prayer, followed by service and evangelism. We pray daily for people who have requested prayer and others of our members & friends who need prayer. We meet monthly to update the list and talk about specific needs we know about. It is usual for DOK to have a service project going. In the past, we have assembled welcome bags for newcomers and packets of food & toiletries to be given to people who come by the church office for help. We gather and send needed items to Borderlands Ministries. For example, we recently sent new underwear for children and adults and a wide variety of school supplies.
Each year, DOKs from across our Diocese gather in a church in August for an annual assembly. Chapters act as hosts. Our chapter will host the next assembly in August of 2024.

The Assurance home is a private, non-profit residential program for mistreated, homeless and ‘at-risk’ teens. With the caring help of members of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Venture In Mission, and other Episcopal Churches throughout the Rio Grande Diocese, Assurance Home started a therapeutic group home, shelter care facility, and transitional living program for adolescents in need. Members of St. Andrews’ have helped support this successful and well-respected program by serving on the Assurance Home Board of Directors for the past 45 years.
